Once there was a young man who wanted to go see a wise man, to learn, he had a great thirst, to learn. He wanted to know, preferably everything, so he went to see the old man, greeted him correctly and said: "Teacher, I want to learn and I come so that you can teach me."
And he said: "Very good, I like that a lot, I wish all young people were like you."
Then the young man gave him a smile and he was so happy and proud and he said, “Where do we start? What are you going to tell me about, master? " And the teacher said to him: "Look, do you see there in front of where we are sitting?" "Yes, there is a very big tree!" And he said: "It is indeed very big and beautiful."
- "Well, look, you're going to cut it down, cut it down and make a statue."
"Very well," replied the young man, "I'll get to work."
- "But you know that, I have to tell you, that I have to be absent, I have to go for a year and you will have to do it alone."
- “Don't worry teacher! I will get to work ”and he went to work.
He began to cut the tree, to work it, to polish it, and he made a very large statue. After the year the old man arrived, he sat in front of the statue, made a gesture that he did not like.
The young student understood. "You don't like it, do you?" And he said: "you have to make it smaller" okay teacher I'll make it smaller. And he said: “Very good! While you make it smaller, I have to be absent and I won't be back until next year. " "Okay teacher" and the teacher left.
The young student continued to make the statue, and he made it smaller. And when the master arrived, he looked at it and said: "It is still medium, it was a small statue that you had to carve." The student and young man was disappointed because he had done so much work, waited for so long, had been there for so long and again he looked at the teacher and said: "teacher, I'll get to work right away and I'll make the statue smaller."
As soon as the master had left (he did not say that it would take a year, while he made the statue) the young man sat down and said: “now I understand,
If I do not do the work with enthusiasm, with hope, with joy, and enjoy it, I will never finish the statue, that is why the teacher did not like it,
now I have understood."
And he went to work, he did it with that enthusiasm, with love, with that joy of doing a job well done. Everything was perfect, the lines, he even wanted to paint a detail in white of a roof, of a ceiling so that he could make the statue shine more. The painting was bad, but he thought: I will not do it with this one, because I have to do it with enthusiasm, with enthusiasm, and enjoy it, enjoy the work I do because it is what I like and it is the only way I will be able to learn.
So it was! When the teacher turned around, the statue was already made.
The teacher looked at it and said: “What beauty! I have never seen such a beautiful and alive statue! This statue is alive, it has an incredible light! Now I'm going to give you the diploma, you've earned it! "
The young man jumped for joy and was so happy because he finally understood the lesson that all of us have to draw:
First apply patience, second effort, third sacrifice, and the whole understanding that when we work, whatever it is for, it has to be with enthusiasm and hope and the most important thing: what is hidden and what is greatest is in you.
