Listen and Reflect

My dear seeds,

We have watched several episodes of The Chosen and we love it. We watch them again and again because it is extraordinary to remember what our soul has already heard, learned, and forgotten.

Watching this series again, which is the most authentic in referring to the life of Jesus, the Master of Tiberias, I ask you please to watch it, especially to listen to the dialogues.

The first thing the apostles, his brothers, said was, “Master, could you explain it a little better? We didn't understand.” And he looked at them with depth in his eyes, and at the same time with pain.

And he thought, what a pity, I am speaking to them simply and they do not understand me, I speak to them with the truth and they do not listen. Then he said, “I will explain it to you later, the day is approaching.”

“But the day of what? Of going for a walk? Of going to eat? Of going to another city?”

And he looked at them, knowing that the most painful thing was approaching, and so are we, when they speak to us many times we are not ready to hear the truth.

And what do we do? We reject it and start to complain, to grumble. We do not accept it and we do not like it, and of course, we do not want to understand it and we are even worse off. What do we say? “Ah, I didn't understand,” “I didn't hear it,” or “I didn't listen,” or “can you tell me? I wasn't there.”

How many times have we said it and will we say it? How many times, how many times? Reflect on these words that are so simple but that we do not even want to remember because they are simple but authentic.

This makes me think that in a school, the teacher who taught, a gentleman, a very good person, always explained to his students and ended with a parable, always ended with something and one day one of the students said to him:

“Teacher, why do you always tell us a story and not explain the meaning? Instead of talking so much, tell us the meaning, tell us how the story ends, explain it because we do not understand and the story is unfinished, you always do the same, teacher.”

The teacher bowed his head and stayed thinking for a moment, then lifted it and looked at them and said, “Excuse me, you are right," he said to the student, “you are right, now I will explain it to you.” And looking at the table there was a plate of fruit and he said to the student, “Would you like to eat a peach?”

And he said, “Of course, yes.” Then the teacher said to him: “Well, may I peel the peach for you?” The student, with so much kindness, felt very flattered, very... Well, his ego was boosted and he said, “Yes, yes, please, do it.”

Then the teacher took the peach, the knife, peeled it, and when it was peeled, he said to him: “Well, now that I am here, would it please you if I cut it into pieces so you can eat it better?”

“Oh, yes, I would like that very much, do it.” And the student, happier, said: “Who am I, that I deserve so much attention.”

And the teacher took the peach, once peeled he cut it into pieces, put it on the plate, a little fork, and when it was on the plate and the fork he said, “Well, now if you permit me, I will chew it, me first and then I will give it to you chewed.”

“Ah!” said the student, “No, not that!” And the teacher, the professor, stayed looking at him, the students too, and he answered him:

“There you have the answer, because every day I talk to you in the final course with a parable, and you tell me that you do not understand the story, if I want to explain it to you, it is the same as the peach, if I chew the peach for you, how will you know how to do it yourself? How will you understand how it is done? And how will you know the value it has? The parable or the story that you say, that I tell you.”

My seeds are the same words that the Master of Tiberias thought when he spoke to them.

“My brother James wants to be on your right and I on your left, Lord,” they did not realize that it was not a parable, that it was not a story, that it was sending him to death.

They did not understand when he said to them: “James, John, go till the land of that field,” they thought they were the chosen ones “and for whom is this field and whose is it?”

Then he took them to a marriage that had nothing to eat or live on and the man had had an accident and could not walk.

And he said to them, “It belongs to them.”

They were disappointed because we always think that we are the best, the greatest, that we have prestige or status, we always think that we have something, in reality we forget that if we want to understand we should start by thinking, analyzing and above all observing, listening and we will understand every word of the people who sometimes speak to us quietly because they are ashamed of what they say or those who shout and do not know what they are saying.

Remember that teacher and the peach, so you will learn that in every word there is always a mystery and a reason and there is a why and it is not always explained, everyone has to find their own answer.

With all my love,

La Jardinera
