My Dear Seeds,
What joy! Because today’s story that I am about to share with you must be applied in life.
Once there was a married couple who loved each other deeply, but the husband was a bit troublesome—one of those husbands who are never at peace and always need to be doing something.
This husband had a habit of going to a bank to rob it, or stealing cars and selling them. He did things that were not very good, but that was how he lived.
One day, he was caught and sent to a high-security prison from which no one could escape. But his wife, who loved him deeply, couldn’t bear to live without him. She said, “I can’t live without my husband; I have to get him out of this prison.”
People told her, “It’s impossible. No one has ever escaped from there; once you enter, you never leave.” But she insisted, “I have to get him out, no matter what. I miss him and love him dearly.”
Meanwhile, her husband, locked up in prison, began to cry. He thought, “Why did I do it? Why did I do it? Why did I do it? I could be with my wife right now, warm and happy, going to the movies or out together.” But there he was, confined, and he accepted his fate with a heavy heart.
His wife, however, spent an entire day searching for a solution. She searched and searched while people watched her curiously. She eventually found a beetle. People thought, “What is she going to do with a beetle?”
They said, “Poor woman, she’s all alone; maybe it’s her new pet.”
She brought the beetle home and carefully tied a very fine silk thread to its leg. The thread was so light the beetle didn’t even notice it. She also placed honey on the beetle’s antennae. When the beetle smelled the honey, it wanted to taste it and began licking it.
It loved the taste and wanted more. To get more, it had to lift its head and move forward. The more it lifted its head, the further it went. So, the beetle started climbing, and the wife placed it on the wall of the highest tower where her husband was imprisoned.
The beetle, drawn by the scent of the honey, kept moving forward and climbing higher. Every time it smelled the honey, it wanted more and climbed faster and faster until it reached the bars of her husband’s cell.
When the husband saw the beetle, he picked it up and noticed the almost invisible silk thread tied to its leg. He carefully untied the thread, placed the beetle on the ground, and fed it a piece of his bread.
He then began pulling the thread. As he pulled, the silk thread led to a slightly thicker cord, and he pulled that too. After the cord, there was a rope, and he pulled and pulled until he had a strong, long rope.
With this rope, he tied it securely in his cell and managed to pull open the bars of his window—something no one had ever attempted. The rope allowed him to climb down the tall tower slowly.
When he reached the ground, no guards were around because they believed escape was impossible. Beyond the prison yard, he saw a fence. On the other side of the fence, his wife was waiting for him.
He climbed into her car, and they drove away to live in a distant country where no one ever knew what became of the man who had been imprisoned. He changed his ways, becoming a good man, tending to his garden and his orchard. His wife was the happiest woman in the world because they were never separated again. They lived happily ever after, always thinking of the beetle and how it had saved a life.
The moral of this story is this: when a person loves deeply and wholeheartedly, they can move mountains. They can even free their loved one from the highest tower in the world.
So, my seeds, no matter how impossible your task may seem—whether it’s finding work, seeking a partner, pursuing happiness, or doing good—don’t lose the straight path. Speak up, share your experiences, talk about your struggles and joys. The doors will open for you.
You will succeed and triumph, just as a tiny beetle managed to save a great man.
Do not judge because of size, but by the love you have and what you do with it.
With all my love,
La Jardinera
